The relationship of politics with building and

destroying civilizations


Introduction:


• Provide an overview of the importance of politics in shaping the fate of civilizations and

how it can contribute to their growth or collapse.

• Explain the rationale using a three-domain framework and two axes for each domain, which

will allow us to explore the different dimensions of the relationship between politics and the

construction/destruction of civilization....


                                  Domain 1: Political Ideologies


Axis 1: The ideological spectrum (eg, left-right, authoritarian-libertarian)

                       Axis 1: Ideological Spectrum This axis explores the political ideologies that shape the

relationship between politics and civilization-building/destroying. Two dimensions of

ideological spectrum are suggested:

Domain 2: Institutions and Governance

Axis 1: type of regime (eg, democracy, autocracy, totalitarianism)

                    Theme 1: Type of System This theme explores the different types of political systems

that can contribute to building or destroying civilizations...

                             Domain 3: International Relations and Geopolitics


Axis 1: Power Dynamics (eg, hegemonic vs. multipolar)

                     Axis 1: Power Dynamics This axis explores the distribution of power within the

international system and its impact on the process of building or destroying

civilization.
